Fractions

The limitations of Unicode with independent characters must be observed when transcribing fractions. Frequently used fractions have corresponding character encodings (e.g. ½). If the fraction cannot be found in the standardised Unicode tables, a combination of several characters is necessary.

Note: It is recommended to encode fractions in a uniform way. The standardised Unicode encodings are to be used and not replaced by combinations. Necessary combinations consist of normal characters and are separated from each other by the fraction bar ⁄ ₉ in numerator and denominator. Use of a slash as a fraction bar and superscript and subscript numbers is not permitted.

Combined fractions (multiple characters)

Combined fractions consist of several characters. The numerator and denominator are to be normal characters. These characters are separated by a fraction bar. This is to be transcribed with ⁄ ⁄. code.
